A.R. Rahman has done India proud by winning two Oscar awards – Best score and best song – this year! The lyrics for the song Jai Ho was penned by ace lyricist Gulzar. Yet another Indian to win the coveted award is Resul Pookutty for the best sound mixing category.
Smile Pinky, a documentary film based on a small girl in Mirzapur suffering from cleft lip and palate, was adjudged the best documentary film. The Oscar
nomination has taken the small girl Pinky Sonkar from the small hamlet of Rampur Dahaba in Mirzapur to greater heights. The documentary was directed by Emmy-nominee director Magan Mylan.
