Akshay Kumar’s highly publicised 'Kambakkth Ishq' is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster hit 'Pammal K. Sambandam' (2002). The movie had a huge star cast with Kamal Hassan in the lead role, Simran as his heroine, and Abbas and Sneha in supporting roles. Where Kamal played a local cinema stuntman in the Mouli movie, Akshay is playing a highly paid Hollywood stuntman in the Hindi version. And Simran’s role as a doctor in making has been translated into a supermodel role for Kareena.
Intially, Anees Bazmee was supposed to have bought the movie rights for Rs. 5 lakhs on behalf of South producer GV Films. But Sajid Nadiadwala beat him to the punch and acquired the rights for a whopping Rs. 75 lakhs. He then went on to make the movie with a budget of over Rs. 60 crore, and roped in top Hollywood stars for cameo roles. Unfortunately, the movie’s release has been delayed due to the Producer vs. Multiplex wars.
