Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arguably the most beautiful women on earth who has already smoked her way into audience heart is now in the picture for her smoking scene in SLB (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) forthcoming sensitivity titled ‘Guzaarish’ a movie that triggers the debate on mercy killing.
Aishwarya who plays the role of a nurse who looks after Hrithik who plays a magician suffering from paraplegic is seen smoking in a still from ‘Guzaarish’.
In a sequence of the promo, Ash is seen puffing away even as the film's hero, Hrithik Roshan, gazes at her.
When she was asked whether it was easy or difficult for her to smoke, Aish replied, “You saw what happened to me when I attempted smoking in the scene. I coughed and had tears in my eyes."
Obviously, the ex Miss World was not comfortable doing it but we believe that it must be the demand of the script and Hrithik too has smoked for the film to get into the skin of his character.
The scene reminds us of those European classics where heroine wearing scarf is shown smoking while seating at the back seat of a car. Anyways… This is India who has strange laws and rules when it comes to freedom of expression. Anti-smoking lobbies has caused furor earlier when Bollywood heroines where shown smoking. In the past, Rani Mukherji lit up in ‘Bichoo’; Kareena Kapoor did it in ‘Chameli’ and Manisha Koirala was shown smoking in ‘Company’. Recently, Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut were shown smoking in ‘Fashion’. All of them went on to create furor.
Now the question is what would be the action of anti-smoking lobbies since the promos had gone public.
But whether Aish literally lit that cigarette and inhaled needs to be seen as we see from the promo she puffed and coughed making Hrithik smile who might have whispered in his mind (‘Thank You For Not Smoking’).
